Celebrating Four Years of Partnership with Astrobrights: Our Award-Winning Journey

Do you know Astrobrights®? If not, you’re in for a delightful, colorful surprise. This brand is beloved by teachers, crafters, parents, and more for its bold, vibrant paper. They are a company built on inspiring creativity, celebrating educators, and encouraging positivity.

The work we do with them inspires my happiness every day — and if you know me, you know I mean it when I say that. As a former VP of Partnerships and current President of Dragon Army, my entire career has been about building real partnerships that go beyond the typical agency/client relationships, and our work with Astrobrights is the embodiment of that philosophy.

Over the past four years, we’ve strategized, produced, published, and managed their social media content, navigating changes in social media trends, algorithm shifts, and the evolving educational landscape. Our collaborative efforts recently earned us a 2024 AMY Award for “Best Social Media & Marketing” for the “All About Hue” back-to-school campaign.


From the Top
At a recent event I attended, one of the panelists made the point that marketing is always changing — but what never changes is listening to customers and giving them what they need. This idea is the driving force behind everything we do for our client partners, giving us both guideposts and guardrails in our social media strategy and execution. With Astrobrights, we are always looking for ways to support the teacher community personally and professionally — highlighting their work, encouraging their passion, and inspiring their next project.

One of the most valuable parts of a long-term partnership is the amount of business knowledge and historical data that is retained year over year. Since we started our partnership, the Dragon Army team has been deeply entrenched in Astrobrights’ brand, getting to know its products, retail partners, and competitors. In addition to that knowledge, we’ve developed a relationship with their team that is built on transparency, mutual respect, a bit of fun, and a commitment to doing great work together. We work closely to overcome obstacles, celebrate successes, and continuously innovate. The core team remains the same as it was four years ago, complemented by fresh faces bringing new perspectives. This stability is rare and a testament to the strength of our partnership.

Core Memory Unlocked
Everything we had accomplished so far led to such a special moment for both teams as we received the AMY Award in March 2024. I was able to attend with Rachel Sprouse, Digital Marketing Manager at Mativ. She and her entire team have always been the kind of partners who works alongside us — coming to the table (or the Zoom call) with thoughtful questions, deep audience insights, and creative ideas. Our teams do great work together, and to see that recognized was a literal dream come true.

The Award Recap
The AMY Awards, which spotlight marketing excellence in Atlanta, recognized our collaboration for crafting a back-to-school campaign that resonated deeply with educators while achieving Astrobrights’ objectives of brand growth, community building, and increased sales. “All About Hue” captured hearts and minds with its engaging content, uplifting messaging, and unwavering support for the teaching community.

What’s Next
Our partnership with Astrobrights over the past four years exemplifies what true collaboration can achieve. Together, we’ve navigated evolving social media landscapes, adapted to changing educational environments, and continuously innovated to support and inspire the teacher community. Our efforts culminated in receiving an award together, a testament to the strength and effectiveness of our teamwork.
